Description
The building is an animal house or stable dating from around 1840, located to the south-west of Monk's Rectory in the Nostell Priory Estate yard. It is constructed of dressed sandstone with ashlar dressings and features stone slate roofs, coped pedimented gables, and two square ventilators on the roof ridge. The building has a plinth and an ashlar eaves band and is a single storey.
The west front has seven openings arranged in a pattern of 2:3:2, with a slightly projecting central section topped by a pediment. The central doorway has an overlight and is flanked by a single shuttered window. On either side of this central section, there are single doorways with overlights, beyond which are single shuttered windows. The rear, or east front, features two alternating doors with overlights and two shuttered windows. This building is part of the estate yard established for Charles W Winn, who lived from 1795 to 1874.
