Description
The garden railings with two gates, located between the north wing of Nostell Priory and Middle Lake, date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. Made of wrought iron, the railings extend approximately 75 meters northwest from the house. They feature a simple looped design with knobbed dog-bars inside the hoops, secured by three horizontal rails, and are arranged in sections between straightforward vertical iron posts. The gates are adorned with ornamental open-work panels that include dog-bars in the lower sections, stylized foliation in the center, scrolls at the top, and scrolled ramped cresting.
