Description

The floodlock gates and overbridge, located approximately 100 metres north of Broadreach Lock, were built around 1839 for the Aire and Calder Navigation Company. The structure features an ashlar bridge with a brick-vaulted elliptical arch and a moulded band at the base of the parapet. There are pilaster buttresses on each side of the arch and at both ends. The stone retaining walls of the canal are deeply coursed and waisted under the bridge, which includes a single pair of wooden lock gates.
