Description
Low Mill Lane Bridge and entrance gate to the cut is a road bridge over the canal and lock gates at the junction with the River Calder, built around 1769 by engineer John Smeaton. The bridge features a single shallow segmental arch constructed at an angle, made of hammer dressed stone with ashlar copings and a rendered surface under the arch. The parapets of the bridge end in round buttresses that have caps.
The lock is made of deeply coursed stone and has a parapet on the north side. There is a setted towpath on the north side, and the wooden lock gates and winding gear are still intact.
