Description

Heath Farm Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a stone slate roof and has an L-shaped layout. The building is two storeys high and features a two-cell central-entry plan with a rear range. The exterior includes quoins and a doorway with monolithic jambs and an overlight, flanked by square windows that have plain stone surrounds and 2-pane sashes on each floor. The brick gable stacks were renewed in the mid-20th century.

At the rear, there is an attached wing set at right angles, which has a narrow stair window with tie-stone jambs to the left of a small single-light window on each floor, all featuring small pane glazing. The lower cell, which is set back, has a doorway with a flat-arched lintel, tie-stone jambs, and a chamfered surround to the left of an altered window with disturbed stonework. There is also an 18th-century brick gable stack at the junction with the lower cell.

Inside, the layout has been altered, with the front two cells opened into one room. There are two earlier stop-chamfered spine beams, which are possibly from the 17th century and have been reused.
