Description

School Wood Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone laid in courses, with dressed quoins and a stone slate roof. The property originally had a double-depth, two-room plan and a gable entry. The ground floor has double-chamfered mullioned windows, one of three lights and one of four lights, both missing two mullions. The first floor has two square 19th-century windows with plain stone surrounds. A porch has been added to the right-hand return wall, flush with the front elevation, and contains a doorway with monolithic jambs. The left-hand return wall has an original doorway, altered to form a window, with composite jambs and a chamfered surround. Coped gables with shaped kneelers are present, as are two stacks to the ridge.
