Description
Sunny Bank Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the second quarter of the 18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a two-room front design that is double-depth, with a central lobby entrance. The doorway is framed by a narrow-chamfered surround. On either side of the entrance, there are double-chamfered mullion windows on both floors, with the left window having three lights and the right window featuring four lights with a king mullion. The gables are coped and include kneelers, and there is a central stack on the ridge of the roof. At the rear, there are two bays of two-light chamfered mullioned windows flanking a two-light staircase window.
Inside, the front rooms are characterized by stop-chamfered spine beams and floor joists. The room on the right has a segmental-arched fireplace made from three stones, with the central stone serving as a joggled keystone and the jambs featuring raised panels. There is also a wooden dog-leg staircase.
