Description

A house, likely dating from the late 17th century, with later 19th-century alterations and a mid-20th century extension, now divided into two separate dwellings. The house is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof. It originally had a two-cell plan with smaller rooms to the rear, and a gable-entry design. It contains double-chamfered mullioned windows, including a two-light fire-window, a four-light housebody window, and a three-light window. A 19th-century doorway has been inserted, featuring monolithic jambs and a chamfered surround. The first floor has altered 19th-century windows, with two retaining three of the original lights. All windows lack mullions. Gable stacks are present. The left-hand return wall has a lean-to addition built over the original doorway, featuring a 17th-century doorway with composite jambs and a chamfered surround. The rear of the house, originally single-storey, was raised to two storeys in the early 19th century. A two-light chamfered mullioned window was moved from the gable when the extension was added and is now located to the left of a two-light double-chamfered mullioned window. A doorway with monolithic jambs is also present, with two windows on the first floor featuring plain stone surrounds.

Inside, the house features a heck-screen and a post with stop chamfers indicating the former position of a bressumer, which has been removed. Scarf jointed spine beams are also visible. A mid-20th century extension to the right is not considered to be of architectural interest.
