Description
Fell Edge Farmhouse is a late 17th-century house constructed of large dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and features a two-cell direct end-lobby entry plan, with an outshut or aisle at the rear under a cat-slide roof. The doorway has a shaped lintel with a chamfered surround that rises to create a false ogee, and this is covered by a mid-20th century gabled stone porch. The windows are double-chamfered mullioned windows, although all the mullions have been removed; they were originally designed with four lights and three lights. The house has two stacks at the ridge.
Inside, the farmhouse includes stop-chamfered spine beams and floor joists. One of the roof purlins features a half-lap joint that has been reused from an earlier building.
