Description
The ha-ha and two pairs of gate piers at the southwest front of Heath Hall date from the mid to late 18th century and are possibly designed by the architect John Carr, who also designed Heath Hall. The structure features a hammer-dressed stone retaining wall with ashlar coping. The drum-shaped gate piers are set on circular plinths and exhibit banded stonework, Roman Doric friezes adorned with triglyphs and guttae, and cornices topped with caps that have Greek-key ornamentation. The east end of the ha-ha includes a quadrant curve and connects to the ha-ha in front of the Dower House.
