Description

The ha-ha and gate piers at the south front of the Dower House date from the mid-18th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and ashlar. The retaining wall features ashlar, with spiked metal straps at the corners to prevent cattle from using them as rubbing posts. The square ashlar piers are topped with domed caps. A short section of decorative 18th-century wrought-iron fence is attached to the eastern entrance piers. The north-western corner of the wall connects to the ha-ha in front of Heath Hall.
