Description

The lock joining the Aire and Calder Navigation Old Cut with the River Calder is an early 18th-century structure, built following Acts 10 and 11 of William III in 1699. It features a small basin above the lock with brick walls topped with granitic coping. Below the upper gates, there is a narrow lock made of coursed squared stone, which has slightly rounded coping. The lock has two pairs of gates that are currently disused.
