Description

62 and 64 Parkside Road is a house that has been divided into two homes. It dates from the early 18th century, with an addition from the early 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high, featuring an early 18th-century bay on the right, which is marked by rusticated quoins, and a two-bay early 19th-century addition on the left.

The right bay has a board door and a later wooden porch. There is a small stone Venetian window on both the ground and first floors, with a keyblock. The lower window surround is plain and has an incised date of '1720', although this is likely a later copy of the finely-moulded architrave of the upper window, which has a sill band. The building also has moulded gutter brackets, a kneeler, and a large rebuilt ridge stack on the left.

The left side features a board door, squared windows with 20th-century four-pane frames, plain sills and lintels, a small square window, and a blocked doorway in the centre. The interior has not been inspected. Historical records suggest that the right bay dates to 1729 and the left end to between 1812 and 1820. Together with No. 60, this building appears to be part of a row of cottages built using materials from the 1729 house.
