Description

LEEDS

SE23NE PARKSIDE ROAD, Meanwood 714-1/6/969 (North East side) 25/03/76 Nos.62 AND 64 (Formerly Listed as: PARKSIDE ROAD, Meanwood No.62)

GV II

House, now 2 houses. Early C18, addition early C19, altered C20. Coursed squared gritstone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, early C18 bay right, defined by rusticated quoins; 2-bay early C19 addition left. Right bay: board door, later wooden porch; ground- and 1st-floor small stone Venetian window with keyblock, the lower surround plain and with an incised date '1720' but probably a later copy of the finely-moulded architrave of the upper window which has a sill band. Moulded gutter brackets and kneeler, large rebuilt ridge stack left. Later block left: board door left, squared windows with C20 4-pane frames, plain sills and lintels, small square window and a blocked doorway centre. INTERIOR: not inspected. Deeds reputed to date the right bay to 1729 and the left end to 1812-20; the group, with No.60 (qv), appears to be a row of cottages built with the remains of the 1729 house.
