Description

No. 7 Calverley Bridge is a pair of cottages that have been combined into a single dwelling, dating from the mid to late 18th century. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high with a three-bay facade and has quoins at the corners.

In the first bay, there is a doorway with tie-stone jambs to the left of a former two-light window that is now missing its mullion, with a three-light window above that has been altered to two wider lights with a recessed flat-faced mullion. The second bay contains a doorway to the right of a former four-light window that is missing two mullions, with a similar window above. The third bay features two-light windows on each floor, with a small inserted window on the first floor.

The building lacks chimneys and has gutter brackets, with coped gables and kneelers. The rear side has two large windows with plain stone surrounds to the left of a former four-light window that still retains its recessed central mullion. On the first floor, there is an inserted window to the left of a three-light flat-faced mullioned window with recessed mullions. The left-hand return includes a small blocked arched light with a chamfered surround in the attic, while the right-hand return has a blocked two-light window in the attic. The property is included for its group value.
