Description
Intake Side Farmhouse and attached barn is a farmhouse dating from the earlier 18th century, with alterations, and the barn likely from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular single-depth plan. The house consists of three units and two storeys, but has only two first-floor windows. It includes a gabled single-storey porch at the right-hand end, which is close to the quoined junction with the barn. There are garage doors at the left end, and between the porch and the garage, there are two windows on each floor. All windows are horizontal rectangular in shape, likely originally mullioned but now fitted with casements. The windows next to the porch have two square lights each with rendered surrounds and flat-faced flush mullions, while those to the left are tripartite at ground floor and single above. A ridge chimney is positioned between these windows. The stone gable copings feature kneelers. The barn extends to the right and consists of five bays, with a rectangular wagon entrance in the centre that has a flat-arched head of splayed voussoirs. There is a range of farm buildings attached at the right-hand end, which are not included in this listing. The rear of the farmhouse has a two-light mullioned window, and the gable wall of the house features a blocked two-light window.
