Description

The Scatcherd Mausoleum is a 17th-century structure located in St Mary's Churchyard in Morley. It is built from ashlar and features a tall, single-storey design that is square in plan. The mausoleum is adorned with quoin pilasters, a cornice, a blocking course, and corner pyramidal finials. The central doorway is pointed arched and set within a slightly recessed ogee-arch, which has a cyma-moulded surround and a square-set impost band. Above the doorway is a carved stone featuring a skull and crossbones. Flanking the doorway are two carved stone tablets with relief letters. The left tablet reads "THE MAUSOLEUM OF THE SCATCHERD FAMILY," while the right tablet states "PARTICULARS OF INTERNMENTS ON TABLETS INSIDE." The interior has not been inspected.
