Description
St Martin's Burial Ground and Sinclair Mausoleum is a mausoleum dated 1700, featuring a square single-storey design that is harled with chamfered ashlar margins. The south elevation has a raised central entrance, which is accessed by a wide flight of stone steps. There is a small window at the rear center and a larger blind window in the east elevation, which has a re-used worn cill and small flanking apertures. The roof is made of ogee Caithness slate and has a stone apex finial, along with a small wrought-iron flag dated 1700.
Inside, the mausoleum has a plain interior with a raised and boarded floor above the vault.
The burial ground is a simple square area enclosed by walls, featuring a tall pair of rusticated ashlar gate piers from around 1700 that flank the south entrance. These gate piers have wide moulded cornices and urn finials. The walls are constructed from simple dry stone with a rough coping. The burial ground is full, with tombstones that date from the 18th to the 20th centuries.
