Description
The Dalgleish Mausoleum, located at West Church in Culross, was built in the late 1870s to early 1880s. It is a roofless mausoleum with a rectangular plan, set on a raised platform. The structure features three semi-circular headed arches on the north, east, and south elevations, each with roll-moulded surrounds and chamfered bases for the piers and quoins. The west elevation is plain, with a column shaft at each quoin. The mausoleum has a corniced wallhead and sloping shoulders, constructed from ashlar blocks. Inside, there are wall monuments dedicated to the Dalgleish family, and decorative ironwork is present on the gates set within the arches.
Surrounding the mausoleum is a sandstone rubble boundary wall with curved coping stones. To the southeast, there are tall wrought-iron gates that feature a pattern similar to the ironwork in the mausoleum. The gates are flanked by square-plan ashlar gatepiers topped with conical coping stones.
