Description
War Memorial, built around 1922, is made of granite and bronze. It features a battered granite plinth with a statue on a circular base, which is supported by four lions' heads acting as capitals to shafted pilasters of the base. The statue is a bronze sculpture of a woman dressed in Roman attire, holding a trident in one hand and a statue of a winged man kneeling on one knee in the other. The woman's bodice displays the royal emblem of three rampant lions, and she wears an elaborate plumed helmet with seahorses on either side. The memorial is prominently located.
