Description

New Bridge is a mid-19th century single span arched bridge that crosses Wessenden Brook, carrying the A62 road in Marsden. It is constructed from rock-faced stone, featuring large rock-faced arch stones. The bridge has a deeply coursed rock-faced parapet with a string course at the base and rusticated copings. Notably, the arch is not aligned squarely with the rest of the bridge, causing the arch stones to protrude unevenly to the south. To the north of the arch, there are two piers on either side. Additionally, there are more recent slightly battered retaining walls on each side of the bridge.
