Description
Numbers 3 and 4 Throstle Nest are mid-18th century terrace houses. They are built of narrow coursed wallstone with large quoins at the eastern end, which is partly rendered. The houses have a pitched stone slate roof supported by stone brackets and feature two stone chimneys with a string course and water tabling.
The south elevation has two doorways with stone surrounds on the ground floor, along with three 4-light stone mullioned windows that are chamfered and recessed, although two of the mullions have been removed. On the first floor, there is one modern window at the western end, a chamfered 4-light stone mullioned window, a chamfered 7-light stone mullioned window with two lights blocked, and a chamfered 5-light stone mullioned window.
The north elevation is partly cement rendered and has one blocked window, as well as a small extension with a stone flag roof at ground level. The east elevation features a ground floor with a cement rendered wall and one window with a stone surround. There is also a later flat-roofed extension at the western end, and the main building was extended in the late 19th century.
