Description
The boundary stone is a 17th century or earlier stone structure located at Westgate Hill, Spenborough. It is a square-section monolith approximately 100 cm tall, featuring a square recess on one side and an uneven top. This stone is believed to be the "mearstone" mentioned in 1688 as a boundary marker for the Manor of Tong, noted for having a hole at the top. It appears to have been relocated slightly from its original site. The stone is referenced in historical documents, including "Boundary of the Manor of Tong, 1668," and a map from 1725.
