Description

Manor House, dating from the 17th century, is a detached house situated on Moorhouses Lane, near Birkenshaw. The building is constructed from finely coursed rubble with quoins, and has a stone slate roof. It has a two-story, L-shaped plan, with a projecting gabled wing on the right. This wing features chamfered gable coping on moulded kneelers with finials, and has recently replaced stacks. The wing contains one five-light, double-chamfered window on each floor, each with a hood mould; the ground floor window has round stops. The main body of the house also originally had similar windows, though the ground floor window has since been altered to a three-light design. A small, central porch has a tiny window above the door. There has been an altered opening to the left of the porch, with a blocked small light positioned above it.
