Description
The farmhouse at Nether End Nurseries is a building from the 17th century that incorporates timber work which may be from an earlier date. It has been altered over time and is constructed of coursed rubble, with some parts rendered. The building features quoins and a stone slate roof, although some sections are missing. It stands two storeys high and has a three-bay main range with a single-storey outshut at the rear and a projecting wing to the right. The main range includes timber work that possibly dates back to the 16th century, with surviving posts and an arcade plate suggesting there was an aisle to the north. The wing is likely from the 17th century. The roof of the main range has principal rafter trusses that may relate to the earlier building phase and appears to have been hipped. The main range consists of three rooms, while the wing contains one room. The windows on the south wall of the stone house feature cavetto moulded mullions, and some timber mullioned windows remain on the north wall of the aisle.
