Description

This is a 17th-century barn located 10 yards east of Number 9 Upper Fold Farmhouse in Thurstonland. The barn is constructed of thinly coursed rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has a square-headed cart entry, with a blocked entry on the opposite side, and an outshut to the right. Inside, there are three king-post trusses with struts that are braced to the ridge. One of the trusses is supported by a post in the outshut, which includes an aisle tie and is braced in both directions. The outshut also retains early cattle stalls.
