Description

This small former barn, dating from the 16th century, is now part of the dwelling at No. 5 Upper Fold Farmhouse in Thurstonland. The barn is constructed from coursed rubble and features a stone slate roof that has been turned. It has various recent window openings. Inside, there are two cruck trusses, each with a collar and resting on stone footings. One of the trusses has a sawn-off tie-beam that extends into the walls on either side. The barn also has heavy purlins supporting each pitch of the roof.
