Description

This is a house, originally a farmhouse, dating to the 17th century and altered subsequently. It is now divided into three separate dwellings: 2 Low Fold, Low Fold Farm, and 10 The Post Office. The construction is of thinly coursed rubble, with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with gable copings and moulded kneelers. The building has two storeys and an H-plan, with a gabled cross-wing on each side of the central part.

A late 18th or early 19th century outshut was added to the rear of the main house body. Later dwellings have been added to the front gable of the left wing. The front of the house has a chamfered surround to the entrance, and a three-light double-chamfered window to the right of the house body; the same window type is on the first floor. The left wing, within the later dwellings, has a blocked five-light double-chamfered window, formerly with a hood-mould. The right wing formerly had a three-light double-chamfered window on each floor, but the ground floor window has been altered and a mullion is missing from the upper floor. The right side elevation has a central doorway, probably from the 18th century, along with a three-light and a four-light double-chamfered window, both altered, plus several recent windows and one blocked fire window.

The side elevation of the left wing, which now houses the Post Office, has late 18th century openings, with a central doorway and three-light windows on each side. There are three three-light windows to the first floor. Mullions have been removed from all but the ground floor window on the right-hand side.

The interior of the main house body features chamfered and reed-moulded beams.
