Description
The principal barn, located 50 yards to the southwest of Upper Fold Farmhouse, is a 17th-century structure that has been converted into a dwelling. It is built of thinly coursed rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof that is turned. The barn originally had a square-headed entry on the east side, which is now partially blocked, along with two small doorways that have deep lintels and chamfered reveals.
Inside, the barn consists of four bays supported by three king-post trusses with struts, which are braced to jowelled posts. There is wind bracing present, along with braced aisle ties, although there are no aisle posts. The barn is included in the listing for its group value.
