Description

This barn, located approximately 10 metres north-east of Fold Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed from regularly coursed limestone slabs with a weatherboarded upper storey on the long sides and features a slate roof. The barn has a wide threshing entrance at the centre, flanked by narrow rectangular air vents on either side of the lower storey and at the gable ends. Inside, the upper storey reveals visible framing with vertical posts. The roof is a double-purlin design spanning three bays, supported by raking struts that connect the tie beams to the principal rafters. The barn encloses the north side of the farmyard and is included for its group value.
