Description
This barn, located approximately 15 meters south-west of Fold Cottage, dates from the mid to late 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on an uncoursed limestone rubble plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has doors positioned to the left of center and to the right, along with four eaves hatches. Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of square panels with three sections from the cill to the wall-plate, supported by long straight tension braces that create bay partitions. The roof is constructed with double purlins across four bays, incorporating raking struts from the tie beams to the principal rafters in the first and second trusses from the left, and queen-struts with V-struts connecting the collars to the third truss from the left and the end trusses. Additionally, there is a stone threshing floor located in the second bay from the left.
