Description
Number 26 in Clunton is a disused cottage dating from the late 17th century, with some minor later additions and alterations. The building features a rendered timber frame, with regularly coursed limestone rubble on the left gable end and rear, topped by a plain tile roof. It has a two-cell plan and is one storey high with an attic.
The framing is partly visible beneath the render, showcasing lathe and plaster infill. There is a 19th-century fixed-light window to the left of a boarded door, and a narrow window to the right of the centre. The cottage also has two mid-19th-century gabled eaves dormers. A prominent external end stack is located on the left, which has a rubblestone lean-to at the front that likely housed a bread oven.
Inside, the right ground-floor room features a cross beam and exposed joists, along with a dog-leg staircase. The left room also has exposed joists, and lathe and plaster are visible on the cross wall.
