Description
Highfield is a pair of late 18th-century houses situated on Surat Road in Slaithwaite. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, featuring quoins and rough plinthstones, with a pitched stone slate roof. The south-east elevation originally contained a doorway, now partially blocked to create a single light; below are two mullioned windows of five and four lights respectively, the latter recessed. Above, there are three recessed, three-light mullioned windows. The north-east gable has a later entrance within a modern porch and two former two-light stone mullioned windows, from which the mullions have been removed. The north-west elevation has been partly rendered and features several later openings, including large window openings with oak lintels.
