Description

The War Memorial in King Edward VII Memorial Park is a First World War memorial built in 1922. It is made of sculptured limestone and features a square column on a square base. The column has scrolls on two sides and inscriptions on the other two sides. At the top, there is a segmentally pedimented design that is surmounted by a well-carved male and female figure, with the female figure holding a wreath. A shield forms the crest of the memorial. The entire structure is surrounded by an octagonal boundary wall, which includes copper plaques listing the names of those who fell.
