Description
Lower Blacup Farmhouse comprises two blocks arranged at right angles. The eastern block is likely from the 17th century, while the western block probably dates to the mid-18th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with quoins. They have stone slate roofs with gable copings and cut kneelers.
The earlier eastern block has two entrances and several windows, all likely from the early 19th century, including a 3-light window and a blocked 2-light window. It also features a 5-light and a 2-light window with double chamfered surrounds. The first floor has two chamfered 4-light windows and two later or altered windows. Drip mouldings are present above the ground-floor openings on the left, with the left one extending to the left gable above the ground-floor 5-light window. A 4-light window with a drip mould is also located above. A projecting stack is situated on the rendered right gable.
The later western block has a symmetrical facade, with a central door and a deep lintel above, paired with a sash window that may have previously been a 2-light window. Recessed stone mullioned 4-light windows are positioned on either side of the block, on both floors. A contemporaneous outshut extends from the rear of the building.
