Description
The George Hotel is a former hotel that is now disused. It was built in the mid-19th century, with a slightly later addition. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone, featuring quoins on the earliest part facing Parkside, and has a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and an L-shaped plan, with a double pile to the south and a double pile addition.
The elevation facing the road includes a central door with a single sash window above it, flanked by 2-light sash windows on both floors. There are two ashlar gable stacks. The addition consists of six bays of sash windows, with an entrance located to the right. The roof of the addition is hipped to the south and has a blocking course. The rear of this addition features a large oculus and a blocked carriage entrance.
