Description

The United Reformed Sunday School, built in 1853 by Joseph James, is a single-storey building designed in a substantial Jacobean style. It is constructed of dressed sandstone with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. The building features eight bays and is raised on a terrace above the road. At its center, there is a two-bay shaped gable bellcote topped with a ball finial, and the gable ends are also shaped and finialed. The windows are 2 and 3-light mullioned and transomed, adorned with lozenge leaded lights. A small shaped gable stone porch is located at the southwest end of the elevation, and the steeply pitched roof includes rear stacks with ashlar panelled Tudor shafts.
