Description
Weavers' Almshouses, built in 1859 by Joseph Jennings, is a two-storey building designed in the Jacobean style. It features a central block with symmetrical flanking wings, constructed of yellow stock brick with painted stone dressings and a slated roof. The central block includes a timber clock turret and an arched entrance that is flanked by canted bay windows. Above the entrance, the central first-floor window is adorned with a segmental pediment and a cartouche. The building has rusticated quoins and ornamental chimneystacks. The wings are characterized by plain plinths and strings, while the windows are framed with simple architraves. The clustered brick chimneystacks are connected by arches. There is a modern rear extension and entrance lodges.
