Description

The High Stone is a milestone from the 19th century made of Portland stone. It stands about 8 feet high on a square base. The stone features inscriptions that include mileage distances, which were originally in lead lettering but are now damaged. The east side has an inscription that begins: "The base of this stone formed part of the original high stone ......."
