Description

Numbers 3 and 4, along with Numbers 7 to 31 on Burnley Road, are a group of traditional stone cottages likely built in the early 19th century. These cottages are arranged in four blocks and consist of two storeys, with an additional storey at the rear that is partly occupied separately. Each cottage features a pair of stone-framed windows and has a bracketed eaves-cornice beneath a stone roof.

The properties from Numbers 11 to 31 are particularly notable due to a gallery added to the rear, which includes a bridge leading to a staircase turret, all designed in a Gothic style from the mid to late 19th century. This architectural addition was part of the work of J E Wainehouse, a prominent local dye manufacturer. At the time of inspection, the buildings were partly derelict.
