Description

The gateway to the churchyard, attached to number 41, is a late 17th-century structure located on the south side of Town Gate in Heptonstall. It features dressed stone walls and a segmental archway with skewbacks and stop-chamfered cyma-moulded surrounds. The left-hand jamb is a skillful 19th-century replacement. Above the archway, there is ovolo-moulded coping and three ball finials that rise from a square plinth. There is also a rebate for a gate on the churchyard side.
