Description

The walls, railings, and gateway to the Church of St. Thomas à Becket in Heptonstall are notable features likely dating from the mid-18th century. The low wall is constructed from large dressed ashlar blocks and is topped with 19th-century cast iron railings that have urn finials. At the southern end, the wall ends in a stone pillar with a bell-shaped cap on either side of double cast iron gates, which also feature urn finials and a dog rail.
