Description
The gateway to the churchyard, built around 1880, is made of limestone with ashlar dressings. It features a gabled design with broaches at the re-entrant angles, flanked by a house and wall. The arched gate has moulded jamb shafts topped with foliate caps, which continue as imposts and a frieze on either side. The arch is adorned with dog tooth moulding, deep roll and hollow moulding below, and voussoirs above. Inside the arch, there is a carved soffit dedicated to Hannah Corbett, who died in 1871. Above the arch, there are shields and roundels. The gate itself is made of cast iron, featuring a crucifix and circular panels. This gateway contributes to a picturesque approach to the church.
