Description
The White Lion Public House is a public house prominently located with an early 19th century frontage and an early 17th century double-gabled range at the rear. It features finely dressed stonework. The three-storey front has a central doorway with monolithic jambs, flanked by flat-faced mullioned windows with projecting sills. The ground floor has four-light windows, while the first floor has a mix of six-light and four-light windows. The second floor contains three windows with two lights each. The building includes quoins and gable stacks.
At the rear, the 17th century range has a two-span roof set at right angles, with coped gables, kneelers, and lantern finials. There is a rainwater spout located in the valley between the gables. The ground floor features blocked double chamfered mullioned windows. The east gable has a four-light double chamfered mullioned window, while the west gable has a blocked two-light chamfered mullioned window. The left-hand return wall has blocked double chamfered mullioned windows that were originally two and three lights, and the right-hand return wall also has blocked chamfered mullioned windows of two and three lights.
