Description

This is a house, likely built in the mid-17th century, originally used as a public house known as The Swan. It now comprises three separate dwellings. The building is constructed of large dressed stone, with the top two courses likely renewed in the early 20th century, and has a stone slate roof. It features double-chamfered mullioned windows of varying sizes: five lights, three lights, and seven lights. The first-floor windows have two-light openings with flat-faced mullions, set within earlier chamfered surrounds. Number 4 retains its original doorway, which has composite jambs and a stop-chamfered surround. Inserted doorways have been added to numbers 2 and 3. The right-hand return wall displays a coped gable with kneelers and a finely dressed stack with a cyma moulded cornice. There is another rendered stack running to the ridge. A stack for number 2 serves the adjacent barn. Some double-chamfered mullioned windows are also present on the rear elevation.
