Description
This is an early 17th-century barn located to the north east of number 23 Towngate, Brighouse, Clifton. It is a 5-bay barn of a single-aisled plan. The barn is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof featuring copings and kneelers. The east elevation features a central doorway with an elliptical arch supported by skewbacks and monolithic jambs. To the right of the doorway are two windows inserted in the early 19th century, and a lean-to addition. To the left is a series of rectangular ventilators. The west side has a single aisle under a cat slide roof. It includes a small doorway with monolithic jambs, one other similar doorway, and two windows, all dating to the early 19th century. The interior retains original timbers and features post and queen strut truss construction.
