Description
No. 30 Towngate is a house from the early 19th century, built from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The three-storey south front features a symmetrical three-bay facade with quoins. The doorway has composite jambs and is flanked by large sash windows, with the left window retaining its 16-pane glazing. Above the doorway are two three-light flat-faced mullioned windows with projecting sills; the right-hand window has one mullion removed, and there is a single light window above the door. The second floor includes a sill band with a 15-light weaving loft window, of which four lights are solid. The house has gable stacks. The rear of the building is at road level and has a doorway with monolithic jambs, flanked by single light sash windows, while this side is rendered.
