Description
No. 5 Old Road is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two bays and two storeys, with a later outshut added to the rear. The front has a square-cut door surround, flanked by four and three-light flat-faced mullion windows. On the first floor, there are six and five-light windows, with three and one light blocked respectively. Notably, to the left of each bay, there are large stone posts that rise from the ground to the eaves level, made in two pieces and equipped with fixing lugs, suggesting they were intended for hanging a gate or shutters. The house has a ridge chimney stack. The rear features a 20th-century window, a porch, and a dormer window.
