Description
This building is a barn and shippon located immediately to the east of Old Bent Farmhouse, dating from 1668, as indicated by the inscription "I M 1668" (John and Mary Stott) on the door lintel. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The structure is a long range with two cart entries and opposed winnowing doors, along with an outshut at the front and lean-to additions on the right and rear. Notable architectural details include quoins, coped gables with kneelers, and dressed surrounds for the barn doors, which have timber lintels. A small chamfered window is located above the right barn door. There are also chamfered doors on the far left and right, with the left door featuring an obtuse-angled lintel and the inscribed date.
