Description
No. 7 Clifton Villas is a villa dating from around 1860. It is two storeys high and constructed of coursed, roughly dressed sandstone. The roof is steeply pitched and hipped, featuring flat bracketed eaves with a bed mould. On the first floor, there are three paired light windows with ashlar surrounds, one of which is located in a gable break to the left. Below this break, there is a prominent bow window with five close-set lights, which are divided by ashlar pilasters that are doubled at the ends. A moulded frieze and cornice extend across the full width of this break. To the right on the ground floor, there is a window similar to those on the first floor. The entrance features a ten-panel double door with narrow sidelights and a later porch. The east return front has two windows and a smaller ashlar-faced bow window on the ground floor. This villa is part of a cul-de-sac of villas set in large, well-wooded gardens.
