2 and 4, Spring Bank Place BD8

Nos 2 and 4 Spring Bank Place are semi-detached villas built around 1850-1855, featuring Jacobean detailing. They are two-storeys tall with a basement, constructed from sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. The design includes steep, gabled end breaks and a gable over the center, with finialed kneelers, moulded copings, and crowning finials. The roofs are steep and covered with Welsh slate, featuring diagonally set chimneys. The buildings have weathered plinths, a string course, and a first-floor string course. Round-headed attic lights are present in the gables, and there are mullion and transom casement windows set in splayed reveals. The ground floors of the end breaks feature canted, pent-roofed, mullion and transom bay windows. Central three-light windows with a drip mould are flanked by pointed arch chamfered doorways, also with drip moulds. Each door is accessed by a short flight of steps. No 2 has three bays and a similarly detailed west return front with small gables over the outer bays.
